Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Solomon Passy heads a delegation that leaves Sunday for Brussels to take part in the May 23 - 24 meeting of the European Union (EU) General Affairs and External Relations.
Euro - integration Minister Meglena Kuneva and Deputy Foreign Minister Gergana Grancharova are also included in the official delegation. This would be the first meeting that would be participated by Bulgaria as an active observer, the Foreign Minister explained.
Minister Passy and his colleagues will discuss the revised version of the EU budget for 2007-2013. On the first day of the meeting the foreign ministers will focus on matters concerning the common EU policy and the security and defense filed. The Middle East situation and the planned for June conference on Iraq will be among the main topics of discussion.
On May 24 Deputy Foreign Minister Gergana Grancharova will represent Bulgaria on the meeting of the regional development ministers who will discuss the amount of the EU aid that will be allotted to the developing countries.
Bulgaria's EU Accession Treaty was signed during a solemn ceremony in Luxembourg on April 25. Sofia ratified the accord on May 11. |
